What to Catch

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency stocks fish big enough to catch and keep except in August. Stocking takes place every two to four weeks during summer and winter seasons. There should be a good supply of fish whenever you find time to visit!

Catfish

Catfish

Catfish prefer strong-smelling baits. Try using nightcrawlers, chicken livers, shrimp, stinkbait, or cut hot dogs.

When to Catch

Catfish are stocked during the months of May through July for your enjoyment. Get out there and fish!

Rainbow Trout

Rainbow Trout

Cheese, kernel corn, nightcrawlers, red wigglers, and meal worms make good trout baits. If you’d rather use a lure, try a small inline spinnerbait or a spoon.

When to Catch

Trout are stocked during the months of December through February for a unique fishing opportunity. To find out where to catch trout at more places in Tennessee, check out the trout stocking schedule.

Bass

Bass

Bass can be caught using live-bait and on artificial lures. The best live baits for bass include worms and minnows set 1 to 3 feet below a bobber with a small weight placed 2 inches above the hook. Hooks should be larger than those used for bluegill. Largemouth have large mouths. Bass can, also, be caught using artificial lures such as jigs, crankbaits, plastic worms, etc.

When to Catch

A large population of largemouth bass reside in the lake and can be caught anytime! Go fish!
